OVERVIEW

This powder room had been a blank slate that transformed into a showcase for the homeowners' Italian cherub relic. Inspired also by their newly remodeled kitchen, the bathroom perfectly picked up design elements from the kitchen without directly copying them.

DESIGN

As the centerpiece of the room, the cherub wall sculpture naturally sparked a modern Tuscan design. A mix of iridescent and matte mosaic tile create a bold backdrop for the plaster art piece, while larger tumbled stone tiles keep the backsplash from overwhelming the space. In keeping with the style and shape of the backsplash, the gold mirror enhances the luminosity of the tiles it rests upon and adds the touch of ornate carvings that the clients love.  Black border tile complements the wrought iron finishes and creates a subtle transition into other materials. Rather than weigh down the room with heavy cabinetry, we designed a custom pedestal-style vanity with a rustic vessel sink.
